Arguably, no private citizen has done more outreach than Baird, and stories of his relentless commitment to creative risk and outrageous surprise are legendary. Baird has demonstrated not only wide appeal of homegrown work but also the viability of Newfoundland itself as an attraction for artists from al over the world.
